THE ALTERNATIVE HAIR SHOW 2022 RAISES £104,000
On Sunday 9 October, Alternative Hair reached its 40-year milestone with a unique show entitled Legends. The show was held at the Troxy Theatre in Limehouse, East London after two years of online, virtual shows. Due to the fantastic support of the sponsors and creative hairdressing teams appearing in the show, Alternative Hair raised a massive £104,000 for a variety of Leukaemia and Blood Cancer charities. This year, the show was made up of 14 teams and The New Visionaries Show made its debut – adedicated section encompassing the creative work of 18 hairdressers who had previously won the Alternative Hair Visionary Awards. The final three places of the International Visionary Awards were announced with founder Tony Rizzo and Anthony Mascolo, Alternative Hair worldwide president, announcing the winners.
Seventeen-year-old Wins Inaugural Quif Centre Stage Competition 2022
Professional hair colour brand Quif announced seventeen-year-old Vinny Brennan from Colour Code Hair Lounge in Stoke-on-Trent, as the winner of the inaugural Quif Centre Stage competition. Vinny won £1000 worth of Quif professional products, and the opportunity to feature as a guest artist on a Quif branded photoshoot, appear as a judge on next year’s Centre Stage panel, a guest on the How to Cut It podcast and a VIP ticket to Salon International 2022.
Matrix has announced Zoe Irwin as their editorial colour and trend ambassador.

John Newman Hairdressing Celebrates a Centenary of Hairdressing
John Newman Hairdressing and Beauty has celebrated its centenary of trading in Rothwell, Northamptonshire. The company commemorated the occasion with an open-door evening for all to enjoy, with Shirley Newman, salon director, commenting: “This is such a fantastic achievement to still be here after 100 years in Rothwell, and such credit and tribute to the Newman family’s spirit. It’s a huge achievement to have survived the pandemic, during which time the business had to close. ADDITIONAL LENGTHS WINS LOCAL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Tees Valley business community came together to celebrate outstanding leading women from the region with their fifth Tees Businesswomen Awards event, where Additional Lengths won the prestigious Business of the Year title. Talking after her win, managing director of Additional Lengths Victoria Lynch said, “We’ve been through a global pandemic and we have come out of the other side doing tremendously well, which I attribute to the team who are working with me – they’re right behind me, making sure we deliver our dreams, goals and aims. Roots Professional Announce New Brand Ambassadors
Roots Professional has announced their first UK ambassador Inanch Emir of Inanch London and first UK educator Krysia West of Postiche Academy. Both have joined the brand representing their different areas of expertise. They have a passion for not only the hair industry, but the subjects of hair loss and hair thinning, with a wealth of experience working with clients who experience similar issues on a day-to-day basis. Brian Hendricks, co-founder of Roots Professional said: “Both Inanch and Krysia are experts in their own respected fields of hairdressing and bring with them extensive experience and knowledge, with each having a true desire to make the topic of hair loss and thinning a talking point of the craft.”
Fresha Launches New Partner Referral Initiative
Fresha has launched a referral programme to reward existing Fresha businesses with Fresha credits when they recommend a friend to the platform. Leith Matthews, head of partnerships, said, “Our partners are at the centre of everything we do at Fresha. We love to hear how much they enjoy using the software and appreciate their recommendations as our strongest form of marketing. With our latest update, we are able to recognise and reward our partners’ endorsements and referrals.”
