Creating a photographic collection shot in six different countries is quite the task! Go behind the scenes of the Denman Global Collective shoot…

Most hair professionals are never happier than when they are in the studio working on a shoot. It’s their chance to capture their creativity, benchmark progress and share their hair dreams with the world. Earlier this year professional tools brand Denman decided to ask their incredible network of international ambassadors to participate in a remarkable shoot to create the very first Global Collective Collection. Six countries and seven hair professionals answered the call, there was just one catch, they would never all share a studio. A ground-breaking first for Denman (and possibly any brand), this six-month journey began with a photoshoot in Manchester UK followed by shoots that would go on to span the globe.

This diverse collection is the result of a global project to capture a creative slice of work from the incredible hair professionals that stand as brand ambassadors in Denman’s Global Collective. Marketing Manager, Frances Courtney says “Our Global Ambassador network is packed with gifted artists that are leading lights in their own countries. As a truly international brand we wanted to find a way to allow them to express their talents and share regional hair fashion while embracing a visual narrative. We wrote a brief and invited our international Ambassadors to participate by contributing their own images under tight technical guidelines. It meant that while they had total creative freedom on the hair, the end result would harmonise into a collection of images that represents our global brand.”

Images were contributed from Japan, Philippines, Austria, USA, Slovenia and the UK. Denman took a minimalist approach on clothes styling, creative direction and make-up. The ‘nude’ tones used in skin and clothing make the hair the focal point of each image. The Global Collective Nude Collection embraces a variety of length, natural and created texture and diversity in colour techniques and tones – atruly collective project from Denman. Experience just some of the collection yourself, over the next four pages…
