COSY BLONDE UBERLISS
COSY BLONDE
“An embellishment of bronzes, honey and almond shades, Cosy Blonde is an ultra low-maintenance trend that is still indulgent. Freehand woven techniques are perfect to create this harmonious trend – leave a subtle natural root to set these shades alight. Condition is paramount, so using a bond regenerator within your colour glazes and tonal shades is a must to repair and rebuild any broken bonds – it will leave the hair healthier and shinier. Bond regenerator stand-alone treatments are the perfect add-on treatment service to help your clients strengthen and regenerate their Cosy Blonde.” Claire Chell, Uberliss Educator
GIRL-NEXT-DOOR COPPER
Girl-Next-Door Copper is the ultimate blend of copper and gold. Douglas Reid, Eleven Australia Educator tells us:“This trend is about keeping the hair natural looking, light reflective, and not too bold.” Laura Thornhill, Moroccanoil Educator recommends using Moroccanoil Color Despositing Mask in Copper and Bordeaux to maintain the perfect copper tones.

MIDNIGHT
“A deep, dark and expensive-looking option, Midnight is a vivid colour that suits so many skin tones and exudes pure class. It's a colour that never goes out of style for me.The shade however, will have a tendency to lose vibrancy, so it’s important to ensure that clients rebook for a refresh in 4-6 weeks. For this, I recommend Goldwell’s Elumen Play. Plus, ensure to offer your client the best take-home products to care for their colour in between visits.” Lydia Wolfe, Goldwell Guest Artist
TWEED BLONDE
“For Winter, clients are embracing a neutral, natural blonde, with cool and warm tones finely woven together to create this harmonious blonde look. The multi-dimensional look imitates how light would reflect on natural hair, creating a sun-kissed look.
Wella Professionals’ new in-salon Shinefinity service is perfect for achieving this look. The Shinefinity glazes can be woven throughout the hair to create a tweed effect, and because they’re zero damage, they add a healthy-looking shine to the hair.”

ANIME PINK
“There’s always a place for pops of fun colour in the salon and this season it’s all about pink! Anime pink is a soft, bubblegum pink but it has to pack a punch. Don’t go too pastel, as it needs to be strong with a high gloss finish. You can achieve this look by using L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox to ensure to keep the best quality of hair and the cleanest lift. Next, use the correct L’Oréal Professionnel lightener to get a pale blonde, and finally intermix tones and experiment with the new L’Oréal Dia Light Boosters to achieve that pink.” Jenn Linton, L’Oréal Professionnel Paris
“WHEN IT COMES TO COLOUR, KNOWLEDGE IS KING. IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO BECOME A COLOURIST, KEEP FOCUSED AND DISCIPLINED. IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO ALL KINDS OF EDUCATION TO ENSURE YOU SHINE.”

TURN UP THE HEAT
“Warmth is back with a bang! Matrix Artist Ambassador, Michael Conway says:“Our blonde clients have shifted away from cool, icy tones to more neutral warm hues, and we love it.Think honey, caramel, and sandy blondes. It’s similar with our brunette and red clients, they are all embracing a much warmer tone. Brunettes are becoming more chocolatey, with rich golds and hints of copper, while our reds have shifted from violet reds to a fiery copper. We’ve been hearing our clients asking for auburn highlights or balayage, and long may it last!” Likewise, Alfaparf Educator, Beatrice Moate tells us:“Balayage is still very much on trend, but the ash and grey tones have shifted to a buttery Hollywood Blonde. We’re also seeing lots of peach and copper on the rise!”

DARE TO DIP
Are you on the lookout for new techniques to try? OSMO Technical Advisor, Kelly Shone-Adams tells us,“Dip dyed bobs and frosted tips in pastel hues from denim blue to pastel purple will be good for the season ahead. For the daring, vivid and vibrant buzz cuts made appearances on the catwalk, so expect to see requests for those. Think power shades and global applications of glossy primary colours in semi-permanent to enhance the tones.”

TOP TIP: KNOW YOUR COLOUR THEORY
Colour theory is essential to become a fantastic colourist. “You may have insane skills but fundamental knowledge is where you need to begin,” says Emma Pullen, Manic Panic Sponsored Stylist. “Being a colourist means learning multiple techniques and new trends. Consider colour placement, tones that suit your clients and how you’re going to achieve what they want.” When it comes to getting to grips with colour theory, learn the way that helps you most. “If you learn through doing, paint the colour wheel. If you learn through listening, try a podcast. Or if you learn best inperson, book yourself onto an in-person colour class,” recommends Victoria Painting, Technical Educator at Paul Mitchell.
How To… Introduce your clients to new colour
“Introducing clients to new colour is a great way of upselling. Talk to them in the consultation about what’s on trend and suggest trying different colours in a subtle way.”
Farah Naz, Salon Owner and #SKPCollective Member
“Clients welcome change and often they just aren’t sure what that change should be. If you have ideas, tell them.”
Laura Thornhill, Moroccanoil Educator
“Bring over the colour chart - rave about how beautiful the tones are and how clients would suit that colour, then add in a few inspirational images.”
Alannah Finnegan, Style Director at Natural Hair Company and #SKPCollective Member
“If there are certain looks you want to create that clients aren’t asking for, create a moodboard ready to show and inspire your clients in consultations.”

TRIPLE THREAT
According to NAK Hair Educator, Brendan Palmer, three colour blends will be top contenders going into 2023. Brendan tells us,“Firstly, Acajou which is a type of mahogany, burgundy, and chestnut brown mixed tone colour which is rich warm and luxurious. Digital lavender is second on the list, followed by mushroom blonde, which is a cool hair colour between light brown and dark blonde (it's the perfect transition colour when going either darker or lighter.)”
