The perfect salon EXPERIENCE
We spoke to Danielle Pink, director at Vixen and Blush to see how Takara Belmont helped the hair extensions specialists create a seamless experience for both their clients and their colleagues
Industrial, minimalist and perfectly polished are just some of the adjectives that best describe Vixen and Blush. Part salon, part in-house hair lab (extensions distributor The London Hair Lab is based here) the team had to make the space inviting for clients, but it had to be practical for staff too.
When we caught up with Danielle Pink, director at Vixen and Blush we asked her what kind of environment she wanted to create. “I think because we are a salon that only works with hair extensions, it had to look very clean and fit our bespoke needs. For example, we have a glass cube in the middle of the salon that contains metal drawers filled with hair and a library ladder that moves around the space to make every drawer accessible,” she explains. Exposed pipework, a polished concrete floor and clean white walls create a minimal, unfussy interior. The central styling stations, wooden wall mirrors and creative lighting ensures that the salon feels warm, inviting and modern.
“We actually had two London salons, but consolidated both into this new flagship. When we moved here in 2019 it was an empty shell, which allowed us to do exactly what we wanted with the space,” she adds. When we asked Danielle why she chose Takara Belmont furniture, she responded that the products were stylish, timeless and perfectly matched their interior ethos. But Danielle also gave an insight into a surprising, extensionsspecific benefit. “Our Takara Belmont trollies have so many different features that make them perfect for working with long hair extensions,” she says. “We love that the trollies are rectangular, so we can place our hair extensions along the top, they have removable trays underneath, but possibly the best thing for me is that we can replace the wheels. It’s a fact of life that strands of hair extensions get trapped in the wheels, but instead of having to replace the whole trolley Takara Belmont has the option to purchase just the wheels.”
It's this level of service, and the sustainability message it promotes (restore, don’t replace!), that Danielle says sets the furniture company apart: “We’ve had styling chairs before that have broken quickly. Having had two salons already, we have learnt from our experience. Our chairs now not only look stylish, but they are long-lasting, practical, they clean up so easily.”
Creating a haven of relaxation in the heart of busy and bustling Oxford Street is no mean feat, but Vixen and Blush have certainly accomplished this at their new Rathbone Square salon.
