I'm writing this as the walls around Salon International come tumbling down – literally! It’s one of the HJ team’s highlights on Monday at 6pm, not just because all the hard work leading up to and during the exhibition has paid off, but because of the whoops of delight you can hear from around London ExCeL as exhibitors celebrate another successful year. You can relive the highlights from the 50th Salon International from pages 35. From the trends seen across our four free stages, to the Salon Masterclasses, the Business Live seminars and the winners of the three competitions, it was a full-on three days of non-stop hair fun.
Elsewhere in the mag, it’s not too late to make the most of party season, in a business sense that is. Our feature Party Profits gets to the nitty-gritty of the services that will serve you well financially and the ways to market them. Is your kitbag as up-to-date as it could be? Check out 2023’s big launches that are very kitbag friendly. Don’t blame us if you want them all…
When it comes to hairdressers in this issue, we’ve got a plethora of bright stars and industry legends. Jordanna Cobella is our Adventures of a… interview subject, Casey Coleman shares his Colour Notes, Simon Townley is this month’s HJ Voicenotes columnist, Darren Ambrose shares his business tips and Mark Hayes reveals his Life Through A Lens.
And let’s just take a moment for our cover model Ellie Goldstein (you might recognise her from the cover of Vogue!). The shoot by Adam Reed brings to life everything we love about hairdressing. It’s a true celebration of identity – and the hairstyles that make our clients look and feel like themselves. Over and out!
