SALON STARS

SALON INTERNATIONAL WAS A CHANCE TO SHOWCASE THE NEXT GENERATION OF INDUSTRY TALENT, WHO TOOK TO THE STANDS, STAGES AND COMPETITION AREA TO COMPETE

On Monday 16 October, finalists took to the HJ Stage to compete for the title of Denman Global Stage Star Winner 2023. This year, the Stage Star Global finalists – Emma Dixon, Jalia Pettis, Nobu Hirahara, and Christine Alves – were asked to take to the stage and showcase their skills to a live audience and a panel of judges.

As the finalists created their looks, Brandon Messinger, Denman Brand Ambassador, gave his top tips: "Confidence is key, and engaging with the audience is very important. When you start doing stage work, you're worried people are going to laugh at you so it takes a lot of guts to get up here. The advice I give is, nobody wants to see you do bad, so confidence is key." Each of the competitors took to the stage and wowed the audience with their diversity, talent, and skills using Denman products to create their looks. After much deliberation from the judges, Emma Dixon took the title of Denman Global Stage Star Winner 2023 and will now receive an all-expenses paid collection photoshoot with the multi award-winning Desmond Murray, an all-expenses paid trip to visit the Denman HQ in Northern Ireland, £1,000 towards education, an all-expenses paid trip to at least one international event, and mentoring by Denman Ambassadors and leading hairdressers.

For the first time the Raw Talent Barbering Competition, brought to you by Mike Taylor Education, took place at Salon International. The judges, Mike Taylor, Ian Harrold, Alex Burt and Bethan Brennan (Post Graduate) were amazed at the skills on show.
