ART.BARBERS LAUNCHES PRE-LOCKDOWN 2.0

Art.Barbers launched two weeks prior to lockdown 2.0 in Birmingham’s new urban luxury lifestyle complex – Art.Quarter.

Art.Barbers was the first part of the project to open with the aim of providing affordable and luxury barbering to men in the city. The other elements of the lifestyle complex, which is set over 20,000 square feet and three floors, are set to open in Spring 2021.

Art.Quarter’s founder Jordan Patel said: “It was great to offer a beacon of hope in these extremely trying times for the city. Coronavirus has had a huge impact on the high street so to be in a position to open a business and provide employment and training in the process was a blessing.”

Ian Tucker, American Crew’s national education manager for the UK and Ireland added: “We are thrilled to be working with Art.Barbers, which is within the pioneering new multicultural lifestyle complex in Birmingham. We are excited to offer Art.Barbers and their customers products they can trust created specifically for men.”

WHAT WILL YOUR MALE CLIENTS WANT IN 2021?

TONI&GUY Billericay salon owner Jim Shaw shares his men’s haircut and style trend predictions for 2021

SHORT AND TEXTURED

Short and textured cuts have been on the rise throughout 2020 and going into 2021 this will be one of the most popular cuts amongst men. This looks best when the sides are kept a little shorter than the top and emphasis is made on adding texture to the top of the hair.

This hairstyle takes its inspiration from the classic military cut but with added length on top. The key to this is keeping the sides and back shaved fairly close to the skin and the hair on top being left longer than usual to provide movement and a disconnected look.

I predict the trend for disconnected cuts will continue in 2021. This cut provides a contemporary look. It makes a real statement and can be incorporated into many styles.

THE RISE OF THE 'TACHE

Many male clients grew moustaches to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer last month. Joe & Co owner Joe Mills believes Movember brought moustaches back in vogue but they are now a key trend for autumn/winter. “There are various shapes to choose from and wearers can have fun with what they wear. The great thing about the moustache is it suits everyone, doesn’t take long to grow and really changes someone’s face shape and overall demeanour.” Joe predicts the three key styles for autumn/ winter 2020/2021 will be the 1970s style, the beardtache and the pencil goatee. He said: “The 1970s style takes on an anti-fashion stance and is perfect for men who can grow facial hair easily. The beardtache is a moustache/beard hybrid and the pencil goatee is a thin moustache that is a grooming classic.”
