The sustainable steps taken so far...

REDUCE WATER
Since 2010 Kao Salon has reduced its yearly water consumption in production by 16%.

• 2025 GOAL: Make an annual water saving of 23%.

REDUCE CO2 EMISSION
Since 2014 Kao Salon's main production facility has run with 100% climate neutral renewable energy, and since 2020 all Kao Salon European sites have done the same.

• 2025 GOAL: Actually, net climate neutral production became a reality in January 2022!

SAVE ENERGY
Following a reduction plan Kao Salon has already cut energy consumption per year by 28% vs. 2010.

• 2025 GOAL: An annual energy saving of 40%.

THE SALON MISSION

Dr Elmar Mussenbrock, global director sustainability, Kao Salon Division explains more:

“REDUCING ITS WASTE IS A KEY ASPECT IN A SALON’S JOURNEY TO BECOMING MORE SUSTAINABLE. WE’RE DEDICATED TO DELIVERING PRODUCT INNOVATIONS AND SOLUTIONS THAT HELP SALONS BECOME MORE SUSTAINABLE. THIS INCLUDES SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING SUCH AS OUR NEW SILKLIFT POUCHES WHICH USE 80% LESS PLASTIC AND ARE 97% RECYCLABLE. PLUS OUR NEW ORIBE 1L REFILL POUCHES LAUNCHING THIS SUMMER USE 71% LESS SINGLE-USE PLASTIC."

THE PRODUCT ADVANCES

Goldwell Colorance Gloss Tones recently launched with new sustainability credentials: including being climate-neutral and vegan.

KMS CONSCIOUSSTYLE Cleansing Mist packaging is made up of up to 98% recycled materials and formulated with ECOCERT-certified ingredients.

KMS Solid Shampoo bars are designed to save water during product development, reduce plastic and lessen CO2 emissions.

Goldwell Dualsenses were re-housed in 2021 in sustainable bottles made with 50% postconsumer recycled PET and 50% less virgin plastic.

Oribe Hair Alchemy offers luxe haircare in recyclable packaging while new Oribe Gold Lust Refill Pouches, out this summer, use 71% less single use plastic.
