WELCOME
You can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy when you look at this month’s cover! This year’s Hair the Love campaign from L’Oréal Professional Products is an absolute corker. Bringing together nine ‘power couples’, made up of an industry pro and their famous client, it beautifully illustrates the unique relationship between hairdresser and client. HJ was lucky enough to see the ‘In the Hands of a Pro’ shoot take place and hear first-hand the conversations between the couples. Yes, they’re all well-known faces but aren’t the same comments heard up and down our high streets? “Sitting in the chair is like therapy, “there’s nothing like leaving the salon with perfect hair” and “hairdressers change people’s lives” – all these phrases can be applied to so many client / hairdresser relationships, not just famous ones. And if now isn’t the time to #HAIRTHELOVE2022, well I don’t know when is!
And because your clients trust your expertise and your magic hands, who better to get them out of their comfort zone with Colour of the Year Very Peri (read our tips on page 23), excite them with extensions (read why it’s such a boost to business on page 31) and advise them on curl patterns and what products will nourish and enhance textured hair? Speaking of which, see the Afro education Blue Tit are implementing with their Diversity Roadmap on page 19, as the industry continues to make steps towards inclusivity. Is your salon doing the same?
I’ll leave you with a reminder that the entries for the British Hairdressing Business Awards are now open – is this the year your business wins an accolade? Go on, you and your team deserve it…
