The Cost of Colour
Research released this month has unveiled a staggering disparity in colour costs per service across the industry. A report from Vish Colour Management revealed the cost of product dispensed per service ranges from £2.30 to £17.95 across the UK, which has major implications on profitability. This variance in cost highlights the need for salons to set their prices based on actual costs, rather than what other salons are charging.
“This research proves structuring pricing on industry standards rather than on what a salon spends on colour will always destabilise profit margins,” says Joshua Howard, CEO of Vish. “If a salon wants to be competitively priced then it is imperative its owners fully understand what their costs are and where they come from, in order to guarantee profitability across all services.
This is where technology like Vish can help - tracking every drop of product dispensed so salon owners understand their actual costs and set appropriate prices.”
