Industrial LUXE
Neon Black is the new concept salon where industrial design meets indulgence
Nestled in London’s blossoming Nine Elms district comes a spot of modern luxury in the form of salon Neon Black. Described as a “disruptive yet approachable concept” by owner Abhi Sharma, Neon Black focuses on high-end service for clients. “we cater to everyone and our aim is simply to treat every individual to the best of our ability while maintaining a high standard of service across the board,” explains Abhi.
With a focus on men’s grooming and six years of experience, Abhi is looking to make a footprint in a new development of London. With the community aspect of Nine Elms initially attracting him to the space.
The salon features a mix of brushed aluminium, wood and concrete which creates an industrial effect. Contrasted with slick marble and leather, these materials bring a touch of luxury to the design. Created by award-winning interior designer Tristan Du Plessis and his team at Studio A, Neon Black uses earthy tones mixed in with neutral colours for a pristine finish. “we wanted a mix of industrial and luxury to help create a juxtaposition, which represents Neon Black in a nutshell,” adds Abhi.

“Music has always been an important part of it all, so we decided to in vest in beautiful Bang & Olufsen A9 speakers.”
Interestingly, Neon Black began as a shell of a building as the area is so new, so it has been tailored to owner Abhi’s meticulous design vision: “the barber chairs are sourced Takara Belmont, whilst everything else is bespoke.
Music has always been an important part of it all, so we decided to invest in our beautiful Bang & Olufsen A9 speakers.” The salon f eatures two styling stations, each accompanied by a marble-clad workstation and 2.5 metre high mirrors.
While the salon looks premium and picture perfect now, designing premises from the bottom up came with its setbacks. “the biggest challenge for us was factoring in the time it would take for building works and things like council approval, but we wouldn’t change anything despite the stresses of the build,” notes Abhi.
The contrasting materials and bespoke design give Neon Black the ideal balance of indulgence yet simplicity, offering the perfect escape for the residents of this corner of southwest London.
