STEP BY STEP THE FRENCH GIRL FRINGE

Effortlessly chic and the right side of relaxed, here’s how to create this full fringe and long layered look, courtesy of Balmain Hair

THE CUTTING STEP BY STEPS

1: Section the hair into the four clear areas as shown.

2: Start working in area 1 by taking horizontal sections and work towards the crown area, keeping the fingers parallel to the section with 0 degree elevation.

3: Release area 2. Connect area 2 and 1 by taking horizontal sections, work towards the top area, while creating a slight 10 degree graduation. Tip, tilt the head slightly to the opposite. Repeat on the opposite side by connecting area 3 and 1.

4: Soften the haircut by creating shallow 45 degree layers in areas 1, 2 and 3.

5: Continue in fringe area 4. Release area 4 and create a centre guideline, lift the hair 90 degrees and cut into progressive layers working from short to long. Over-direct each section to the first guideline and build up length.

6: Refine the haircut by creating round face-framing layers using a razor.

7: To give the haircut extra dimension, finalise the haircut with a slice cutting technique to remove any excess weight.

SHOWCASING CONFIDENT, UNAPOLOGETIC GLAMOUR IN ROUGH TERRAIN THAT RADIATES OPULENCE. THE A/W 2021 BALMAIN HAIR CAMPAIGN COMBINES OPTIMISM AND ESCAPISM.

TO STYLE

Apply the Balmain Hair Signature Foundation, mix Argan Moisturizing Elixir and Leave-in Conditioning Spray. Dry the hair using a round brush. For extra lift and style retention, spritz the Balmain Hair Texturizing Volume Spray from roots to ends.

THE COLOUR STEP BY STEPS

1: Start the colour process by sectioning the fringe area. Clip the sides away from the face and release the fringe.

2: This section will be coloured with the base colour formula 4 and works as a veil of colour, and the colour will be applied during the last step of the complete colour process.

3:  Work 6 back to back foils on each side of the first triangular section.

4: Start the foil application with one full slice of colour formula 3. Continue working with a back to back foil technique and colour two full slices of colour formula 1.

5: Place two more back to back foils with colour formula 2 directly after the last foil.

6: To finalize the foil application, place two more foils with colour formula 3.

7: Repeat steps 3 till 6 on the opposite side.

8: Apply the base colour formula 4 in between the foils on the root area and on the remaining lengths and ends.
