HAIRDRESSING INDUSTRY PROTESTS FOR TAX REFORM
The hairdressing sector took to the streets for a day of action on 17 March in central London. The British Hair Consortium urged the whole industry to pull together to show its support for tax reform, calling on Chancellor Rachel Reeves to urgently halve the VAT salons pay on labour costs to 10% to help them overcome the crisis. It is hoped that the ‘Save Our Salons’ rally will grab the attention of the media and Government. A recent report commissioned by the British Hair Consortium and carried out by CBI Economics, highlighted that an unbalanced tax system is harmful to the hair and beauty industry showing that unless things change, there will be no new apprenticeships by 2027 and a 93% fall in employment by 2030. evo x plastic bank
evo is proud to partner with Plastic Bank to help prevent plastic from polluting the environment while improving the lives of the people who collect it. For every evo retail bottle sold, the same amount of plastic is collected from the environment. Collection members exchange plastic at their local branch to secure income and life-improving benefits like health, work and life insurance, school supplies, meal vouchers and more.
While evo has long been committed to people-first and planet-first initiatives separately, Plastic Bank is an organisation equally dedicated to both. So far, evo has prevented more than five million bottles from entering the environment while improving the lives of more than 740 people across Indonesia, Brazil, Egypt and the Philippines.
“At evo, we want to help create change for the better and that’s why we are excited to partner with plastic bank to help reduce our plastic footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future for all,” states Keira Parry, evo global head of brand & marketing.
