Davines welcomed 3,000 members of its hair community to Parma for a spectacular four day event, celebrating the launch of their We Sustain Beauty Project and the ongoing development of The Davines Group – Rodale Institute European Regenerative Organic Center, the first international Regional Resource Center. The event kicked off with a WWHT OFF Cultural Experience across Parma, open not only to hair tour attendees, but completely free to the community surrounding the Davines Village.
Diving Into Davines Village
The conference began with a visit to the Davines Village where HJ was guided around the Rodale Project, the ‘Home of Sustainable Beauty’. Guests were led through the product testing space, offices, and lab; before being taken to the fields part of the Davines Group -Rodale Institute European Regenerative Organic Center. As we were guided through the fields we discovered more about Davines’ commitment to regenerative agriculture and were invited to sprinkle seeds as our contribution to the project. “We are the first hair manufacturer entering into this space, to educate and build farmers’ understanding about developing the soil. From that we’re going to start educating the public on what to buy, how to buy and then it’s down to them as a choice, and the Davines community will help spread that message,” said Mark Giannandrea, global general manager/director.

A Dinner of Design
That night, after a two year hiatus, the international hair community celebrated the launch of the World Wide Hair Tour with a welcome dinner during which international hairstylists Davide Diodovich, Annie Ankervik, Anne Veck, Ashleigh Hodges, Marriet Gakes, Brian Suhr and Kirsten Demant showcased their work. Viewers were immersed in a creative experience, full of cutting-edge styles with many stylists taking inspiration from nature, looking to salt flats, forests, glades and even fungus!
Digital Safari
Day two saw an astounding presentation of hairdressing creativity from Anna Pacitto, Mirela Zen, Candice McKay and Davines hair art director, Tom Connell. At his first-ever World Wide Hair Tour show, Tom took viewers on a digital safari through his mind, describing in detail where he found inspiration for each look. “I want to show you the why, not just the how,” he noted. Connell finished the show with two avant-garde looks completed in less than 10 minutes. Assistants rolled two water tanks onto the stage and the audience watched as Tom dyed the wigs live, turning them a coppery orange and lavender in under two minutes.
The World Wide Hair Tour 2022 saw faces old and new come together from all over the world to share ideas, creations, and a common love for all things hair.
