A 120+ UK party joined international colleagues and were treated to a mix of creativity, innovation and trend reveals in a programme that put the stylist at the front of all activities, and allowed enough time for guests to network.

Hosted by VP Global Creative Miquel Garcia, the event began with a trend presentation that delved into natural texture, braids and accessories before moving into the world of colour. From subtle pastel patterns to primary brights, to saturated colour and iridescent shine, Miquel took the audience through the trends for 2023 that sees colour at the front of creativity.

Looking at the evolution of hair into next year, Miquel outlined how innovation and lifestyle changes will drive product and style output as ‘hairclusivity’ self-care, wellbeing and self-expression remain top priorities. “We are looking at new solutions that combine the power of nature with technology to achieve solutions, as we live in a world where happiness will be more widely seen as a KPI that is necessary for the health and prosperity of individuals,” he explained.

A panel session followed that included the UK’s Steve Rowbottom and HJ’s Jayne Lewis-Orr who joined international colleagues to look at the challenges facing the sector today. Topics covered included team management and the importance of investing time into getting to know your team in order to really understand what makes them tick, and the importance of marketing and getting the tone of voice right for you and your business.

Audience participation was integral to the section dedicated to co-creating the brands Colour of the Year, as the professional audience were guided through colour choices that will see their creation revealed later in 2022.

From avant garde to couture and colourful, the shows were as bright as they were beautiful. “It was amazing to be able to be a part of the first Front Row Summit and a great experience for myself and the team to be back on stage doing what we love,” explained Mark Leeson.

“Our very first Front Row Summit proved to be an outstanding success on every level. An extraordinary few days of engagement from both a creative and business perspective, it was also an incredible chance to network and engage with our salon partner network from the UK & Ireland and the EMEA region,” explained commercial director UK & Ireland, Matt Horder.

A dinner and party that brought the entire audience together rounded off a fantastic weekend.
