HJ Reports: Goldwell HUB Network

In April, Kao Salon Division welcomed nearly 100 salon partners to Edinburgh for its seventh HUB Network

HUB Network guests

Held at the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh, this year's HUB Network featured inspirational speakers and the opportunity for connection and collaboration.

On day one, Geoff Ramm, creator of ‘Celebrity Service’ and OMG Marketing, gave a session focused on how to go the extra mile and exceed client expectations. Next, Segun Akinwoleola, founder of The Gym Kitchen, shared his story on how he built his brand. He told guests to believe in their vision, but highlighted that it’s not bad to fail if you learn from it. The last speaker of the day was Lurata Lyon, a motivational coach, who shared how she was kidnapped by a human trafficking and organ harvesting gang at 17 years old. Lurata opened up about her struggles, what she learnt about herself, and the unwavering strength that carried her through.

After the speakers, guests were invited on an exclusive Hotel History Tour, followed by dinner at Chaophraya rooftop restaurant, where attendees had the chance to network, all while taking in the views.

Kicking off day two, CEO and co-founder of Be Human First Ltd Jaz Ampaw-Farr, combined humour and storytelling to deliver an interactive session that had the audience asking themselves: ‘Why do we criticise ourselves when we wouldn’t anyone else?’ Next up, Nina Giglio, who specialises in trends, branding and marketing, gave an in-depth insight into the three main beauty drivers shaping the industry in 2025. Jules Standish, UK colour expert and Head of Colour at the London College of Style, then took to the stage for a talk that stressed the importance of personalising colour trends, colour analysis and colour psychology.

To close the event, Arif Isikgun, visionary Founder of AI Beauty Consultancy, spoke about the art of selling. He said: “We think we sell products – we don’t. We sell emotion. The consultation and the close are the most fundamental steps of a sale.” He added: “You are 40% more likely to close a sale through touch in a retail setting.”

Day 2 HUB Network Speakers

Speaking of the event, Julie Winchester, General Manager, Kao Salon Division UK and Ireland said: “Our annual event is a chance to hear from some of the world’s best speakers on the latest insights, tools and resources that they need to excel and thrive, both in business and creatively.”
