LATHER. RINSE. PROTECT. REPEAT.

As a hairdresser, you’re a master of your craft. From cuts that give clients confidence to styles to make someone smile, you’ve worked hard to gain the skills to help people look and feel their very best. And that’s something worth protecting.

Here, Abigail Butler – owner of the Strictly Xtended salon in Bishop’s Stortford and an AXA Business Insurance customer since 2015 – explains how she took the time to hone her craft and build her business from the ground up.

“I’ve been doing extensions since I was 16, so there’s a lot I’ve learned,” Abigail explains. “I’m a qualified hairdresser. I’ve always built my skillset. When I first started, I knew how to do weaves and wigs because it’s in my culture, but I built on that and went on training and courses to learn different methods and to get more qualified professionally.

“I definitely think it helps to have that qualification behind me. When your skills have been assessed professionally it gives you a more well-rounded skillset.”

Master your trade

Building the skills to make it as a hairdresser is hard enough, but as Abigail points out, transferring those skills into business success takes time too:

“Master your trade and be kind to yourself. I think everyone who starts their own business has this entrepreneurial drive to push themselves. And it’s ok to push yourself but take your time. Everything happens in good time.

“The world wasn’t built in a day, so do it properly. Don’t jump steps. Take your time, do the work, don’t take shortcuts. Master your trade.”

Protect what you’ve built

AXA knows building your own business is hard work. You’ve taken the time to master your craft, so now it’s time to protect what you’ve worked so hard to build.

With AXA Business Insurance, you’ve got the freedom to style your insurance to suit your salon, no one else’s, adding only the covers that suit your skillset.

You don’t have to comb through jargon to protect your hairdressing business. Find the cover that’s right for your salon in just four quick questions.
