The hairdressing industry has certainly been out and about a lot this month, as you can see from the return of our HJ Reports pages (from page 28). From the Goldwell HUB Network event in Portugal, to Eurovision in Turin, and from the beaches of Cornwall for L'Oréal Professionnel Paris Portfolio, to the bustle of Madrid for Revlon Professional’s first-ever Front Row Summit (more on that in the next issue), industry events are well and truly back in force!
And it’s all go on the salon floor as well, as we investigate the rise of extensions – and the variety of clients that are now opting for them.
Check out our feature on page 39, which proves that it’s not all about length anymore. Sticking with the theme of salon life, this month we asked you whether you allow phones on the salon floor in our Debate column. Yes, it’s vital to capture content for social and marketing, but does it come at a cost to client experience? Robert Eaton and Talisha Cox talk it out on page 18. One salon that puts client experience front and centre is the cool, but definitely not clinical, Avery Salon in Brighton.
They’re our Interiors case study this month and will provide you with some serious interiors inspiration, whether you’re thinking about a full renovation, or even just adding a few new touches to your space.
Elsewhere, making it clear that sustainability has been a career-long ambition, Anne Veck reveals her work highlights and we delve into the archives to discover Tim Scott-Wright’s defining images. Speaking of career-defining moments, I hope to see you all at the British Hairdressing Business Awards on Monday 4 July for what’s set to be a fantastic night of celebration of our industry. Come find myself and the HJ team!
