Patrick Cameron Awarded MBE
Patrick Cameron has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2022 Birthday Honours List. Patrick will be given the honour for his service to the hairdressing industry with particular recognition for his work during the COVID-19 pandemic. As an early advocate of digital education with his ‘Access All Areas’ platform, Patrick quickly reacted to the pandemic and set about producing free weekly online programmes making it his mission to keep an optimistic and upbeat spirit.

ALTERNATIVE HAIR SHOW IS BACK AND LIVE IN LONDON
After two years of Virtual Streaming, the 2022 Alternative Hair Show, LEGENDS, will be LIVE once again, at a new venue TROXY, in East London, on 9 October. The aim and belief of Alternative Hair focuses on helping finance research into childhood blood cancers at Great Ormond Street and other hospitals, supporting families with a sick child and assisting global projects to train medical staff.

The nominees for British Hairdresser of the Year and Session Hairdresser of the Year for the 2022 British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional have been announced. Session Hairdresser of the Year is a new category for 2022, and HJ’s executive director Jayne Lewis-Orr explained: “We believe this award will serve to profile the incredible talent and to recognise session styling’s place within the hairdressing landscape.” Scan the QR code to see the Session and British nominees.

International Hairdresser of the Year 2022 announced in Madrid
TONI&GUY international artistic director and head of education, Cos Sakkas headed to Madrid to accept his International Hairdresser of the Year award in front of an esteemed audience of international hairdressers. Cos won the title after being nominated in the International Hairdressing Awards earlier this year, and travelled to the Italian city for the final. Cos, who was the only British hairdresser to be nominated for this year’s title, was chosen by a panel of judges from around the world. Other nominees included Jamie Furlan from Australia and Jose Garcia from Spain.
Aveda announces Leaping Bunny approval
Vegan haircare brand, Aveda, which has opposed animal testing since its founding in 1978, has announced that it has been approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny Programme. To obtain Leaping Bunny approval, Cruelty Free International has verified that Aveda does not conduct or commission animal tests for its products, raw materials and ingredients. The brand underwent a rigorous, multiyear review process with Cruelty Free International to verify that its suppliers and manufacturers comply with all Leaping Bunny criteria for its products and ingredients. To maintain approval under the Leaping Bunny Programme, Aveda will be audited every 12 months by Cruelty Free International to ensure continued compliance.
New competition series The Big Blow Out, will be coming to our screens later this year on E4. Hosted by AJ Odudu, and with judges Sam McKnight and Lisa Farrall, eleven experienced hair stylists will compete in a series of hair challenges.

First Global Front Row Summit Takes Place
Revlon Professional held the first FRONT ROW SUMMIT in Madrid on 15-16 May. The exclusive event that welcomed over 1,500 of its global key accounts offered a mix of inspiration, creativity, innovation and trends. With many renowned hairdressing names taking to the stage, it was a chance for key opinion leaders to share their expertise with the audience at a technological event where the attendees were at the centre of the interaction.
