COVER: WELLA PROFESSIONALS
It’s been a big month! At the time of going to press we have just launched our brand new, shiny website. We wanted to update our online offering and give you a website that truly represented the full HJ experience – in short, we’re an interactive, socially-savvy community that’s obsessed with all things hairdressing. Check it out at hji.co.uk and see for yourself.
Just like we do online, in our magazine we always strive to best serve you the content that you want. Our mix of business features this month include a debate about whether you need to be a slave to trends (page 15) and a HJ Voicenotes column on page 16 from Christopher Laird who insists that location isn’t a barrier to industry success – preach!
Elsewhere in this issue, we have a feature on the Black hairdressing industry and where it’s at right now, and what we can do to be ensuring that we attract both Black stylists and clients with all hair types as an industry. Pioneers and experts share how they view the Black hair industry in 2023 and what the professional hair sector can do to step up on page 29. Our colour features (from page 41) this month talk about viral hair colour trends (Smoked Chestnut, anyone?) and how to market autumnal services – it’s a time of year to wake up and chase the opportunities, not hibernate.
The celebrations are gearing up here at Hairdressers Journal International for Salon International. This year we're celebrating 50 years and from the 14-16 October, ExCeL London will be home to all things hairdressing. Turn to page 53 to start planning your weekend at the industry's biggest event.
See you at #Salon23
