How to Avoid Rising Colour Costs

Experimenting with new colour formulations as the seasons change, can lead to stylists over-mixing, driving up costs for clients or salons, warns Vish. However, the colour tech expert can help salons avoid any spikes in colour waste, leaving teams free to be creative and keep clients excited.

Vish Waste Warrior Lucy Bone explains: “Using Vish means it’s easy for me to reformulate my colours for the summer months.” Based at Jodie Young Colour Bar & Salon in Newquay, Lucy averages waste costs of £0.24 per service – afraction of the industry average of £1.19.

The team at Lisa Hauck Salon in London, which won second place in the Salon Waste Warrior category, have kept their average down to £0.39 per service by mixing up a minimum quantity when introducing a new formula. “Before Vish we would mix up the same amount even when we knew you only needed 25% more,” says Lisa. “Now we mix up a minimum when we have a new formula, as Vish recalculates to replicate in any quantity required.”
