Stefania Mastrogiuseppe joined Blue Tit London after being inspired by the company’s B Corp values. For her, it wasn’t just a brand dedicated to creating beautiful hair, it was one committed to doing so responsibly. After relocating from Italy, she retrained at the Blue Tit Academy and steadily worked her way up from assistant to stylist, eventually becoming Assistant Manager at the Portobello salon. With the ongoing support of the team behind her, she felt ready to open her own Blue Tit franchise, choosing Hammersmith as the perfect location. Having lived in the area for several years, she recognised the need for an inclusive, creative, community-driven salon and the new space has quickly become a welcoming hub for local residents.
Stefania explains: “The new Hammersmith salon is a love letter to Italy – think soft Mediterranean tones, tactile textures, suspended mirrors, and golden, glowing light. It’s chic yet homely, the kind of space that radiates that ‘just stepped into summer’ feeling all year round.” The ground floor is bright and open, while the basement offers four backwashes and a serene retreat for clients seeking a little more privacy. She worked closely with designers Sally and Nathan from Studionlm, creating detailed mood boards for each room and bringing them to life with earthy natural colours, Italian tiles, thoughtful lighting choices, and standout features such as arched shelving and communal round tables. Every element was chosen to ensure the salon feels intentional, comfortable, and welcoming to everyone. “There are nine stations, and some of our mirrors are embedded into circular tables rather than fixed to the wall, creating a more open, conversational feel,” Stefania adds. One of her favourite decisions was enlarging several walls, which introduced more dimension, natural light, and flow throughout the space.
Equally important to Stefania was designing a salon that feels good, both aesthetically and environmentally. “Most of the furniture, tiles, and fittings were sourced from smaller independent brands across Europe and the UK. We’ve been conscious with every material, prioritising quality and longevity over fast design,” she says. The result is a space that reflects her values and her commitment to thoughtful sustainability.
