ALL ABOUT MOVEMENT
What do you love most about being a colourist?
I love how open the journey can be with colour and the transformative power it gives me to make clients feel amazing. There’s no limit to how creative we can be – it’s what keeps my fire lit.
What is the most important question during a consultation?
Beyond hair history, I always ask what kind of journey they want: how they want to feel, their style, and their level of commitment. It’s about creating something that reflects their personality.
What colour trends are you glad to see the back of?
While some classics stay timeless, I’m happy fewer clients want a full head of one flat colour. I love softer, more dimensional looks.
Are there any trends you’d bring back?
As a 90s kid, chunky highlights and bold pieces are my vibe! I love statement placements that feel intentional and impactful.
What are the challenges facing colourists right now?
Rising costs affect everyone. Colourists should know their worth, but offering techniques like root melts can help with maintenance while still making the appointment valuable for both client and stylist.
What do you think will be the next big colour trend?
Peekaboo moments are coming back, whether soft and natural or bold and bright. The placement is so versatile and fun to work with.
What colour techniques are you known for?
I created a technique called “two back, one flat.” It’s never let me down and keeps clients returning. It really enhances the haircut and adds dimension.
What colour creation makes you most proud?
Definitely my L’Oréal Colour Trophy entry this year, it won my region and placed third overall. I layered tones to create a totally bespoke shade.
What advice would you give for a trainee colourists?
Don’t be nervous or scared, try anything. Get your foundations centred and then you can learn to push the boundaries of how the colour can be used. Experiment with it and find who you are as a colourist and enjoy the ride.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learnt as a colourist?
That there is no specific way to use or apply colour. Obviously stick to manufacturer guidelines but it can be pushed to create something more personal to you.

2 #LCT25 WIN!
This was my winning L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2025 entry, I applied the colour in a purposeful placement to accentuate my model’s cut and face shape.

Here I am showcasing my application technique and how to blend tones to create movement at a L’Oréal inspiration day with a salon group.
