HJ Reports: ASP Hair Carnival Extravaganza

Over 500 guests from around the world celebrated 30 years of ASP in Marbella, Spain with a two-day hair carnival

90s-neon Hair Show

Hairdressers Journal International joined ASP in Marbella, Spain for two days of hair shows, masterclasses and a carnival party to celebrate three decades of the global brand.

ASP distributors and hairdressers from a host of countries took over Marbella’s exclusive Hard Rock Hotel for the celebrations with plenty of opportunities to network, share ideas and meet new industry friends. The salon-exclusive brand showed its support for the professional hairdressing industry with a line-up of hair shows and seminars, with a clear message that guests needed to ‘be inspired and get creative’.

Day one kicked off with an introduction from ASP’s Education Manager & Head of Creative, Sara Solomon-Jones and Sales & Commercial Director, Ross Jones, who revealed new products launching in 2025. They also paid tribute to the company’s heritage: “Throughout the last 30 years we have launched some of the most innovative products in the market. We’re now in more than 50 countries and trusted by thousands of hair professionals around the world. Today is the launch pad of the next era of ASP. Our ethos remains the same, the hair professionals are always at the core of our business, and the professional hairdresser makes us who we are,” said Ross.

ASP Global Ambassador, Tracey Ann Smith, led a colourful 90s-neon themed hair show alongside the ASP Colour Rebels team: Maire Abbett, Poppy Goodwin, Megan Grant, Morgan Workman and Maisie Oddy. The Rebels are halfway through a two-year programme, which has involved a period of education with Tracey and the ASP education team, before taking part in their first global hair show. Maisie Oddy commented on her journey as part of the Colour Rebels team: “This whole event was incredible and such a great experience at this stage in my career”.

The energetic hair show was a 90s-inspired display of Avant Garde hair where intricate hair pieces, braiding and volume were the highlight. This set the scene for the end of the night – a 90s neon themed opening party with live music, entertainers and hairdressers from all over the globe embracing the spectacular Hair Carnival Extravaganza.

Day two was filled with Masterclasses that gave guests an up-close and personal education opportunity. The morning started with ASP Ambassadors Terri Nadin and Let Lew for a Colour Masterclass, they drew on the theme of reflection, taking two models with opposite hair lengths and uniting the looks using the same techniques and colour placements. Next, Paul Thomas-Farr and Jon Aherne delivered a 60s punk-inspired Cutting Masterclass, which focused on evolving classic punk cuts into modern, contemporary and wearable looks with an edge. Finally, ASP Ambassador Sheree Tomić and renowned photographer Desmond Murray closed the day with a Photography and Social Media Masterclass. Bridal hair specialist Sheree shared how she has used social media to “identify myself as an expert in my niche” and has built her education platform through social media. Both experts shared their top tips to create high quality content to grow your personal brand and business.

Tracey Ann Smith, the ASP Colour Rebels and ASP Ambassadors closed the event with a hair show extravaganza featuring Carnivalinspired hair, demonstrating the talent of the whole ASP team. It was a fabulous two-day event that celebrated both the family and heritage of ASP as well as all that is to come.
