MEET THE REVLON VISIONARIES
Four budding talents share their journeys, as they experienced multiple areas of the hair industry with the Revlon Visionaries programme. From photo shoots to stage work, here's a little bit about their experience in their own words…
“I'M 20 YEARS OLD AND I’M ONE YEAR FULLY QUALIFIED. I THINK I'M CREATIVE IN MY HAIRDRESSING, AND I TAKE CRITICISM WELL. I LOVE STYLING THE MOST, BUT I’M AN ALL-ROUNDER. I APPLIED TO JOIN THE VISIONARIES BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP TO BOOST MY CONFIDENCE AND IT WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN NEW SKILLS AND BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM BACK TO MY CLIENTS.”
“I've been hairdressing on and off around 10 years, and I'm creative and arty outside of work -I like to paint and draw. Cutting and creative colouring are my key strengths. I get a lot of alternative clients who give me free reign, so I do get to be quite experimental. I applied to do Visionaries because I thought it would open more doors in the future, new opportunities that I've never experienced before like shoots and editorial.”
“I'M ORIGINALLY FROM DUBLIN, AND I MOVED TO SURREY EIGHT YEARS AGO WHERE I WORK AT TERESA WELLER HAIR ART IN DORKING. I APPLIED FOR VISIONARIES BECAUSE I WANTED TO PUSH MYSELF OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. THE AUDITION WAS TERRIFYING BUT FUN. IT FELT LIKE AN EPISODE OF MASTERCHEF, BUT FOR HAIRDRESSING. ANOTHER REASON I WANTED TO GO ON THIS JOURNEY WAS TO PEEP BEHIND THE CURTAIN ON SHOOTS AND SESSION WORK.”
“I'm from Kent and I have been hairdressing for 12 years. I've got a little girl who's coming up to two. I really enjoy all aspects of hairdressing but I found out through this process that my strength is actually in cutting. I tend to do a lot of long hair work in the salon, but we've been doing precision cutting here and I'm quite good at it! After I had my little girl, I needed an outlet of creativity. I wanted something that would remind me who I am, and I thought applying for the Visionaries was a great way for me to push myself out of my comfort zone and try and do something new.”
