COLOUR REPORT: APRICOT CRUSH
COOL SHADES HAVE DOMINATED FOR YEARS, BUT NOW WARMER AND MORE COMFORTING TONES ARE MAKING A RETURN, AS SHOWN BY JAMES EARNSHAW AND THE TRENDVISION AWARD 2023 WINNERS
The Wella TrendVision winners worked with the Apricot Crush theme to push the boundaries of the trend. “I love this collection but it’s a slightly darker moodier vibe to what you would expect from a warm colour palette,” explains James Earnshaw, Wella Global Ambassador.“It shows each winner’s aesthetic and skill set off perfectly.”
“It was so fun being a mentor for the shoot this year, working with the super talented winners all with dif ferent ideas and inspirations was so interesting for me to work with and bring the whole collection to life. I recommend entering TrendVision Award 2024 if you want to push yourself to become a better hairdresser, inspire yourself and your team and open up new doors in your career.

MEET THE WINNERS
COLOUR VISIONARY UK WINNER:
PAOLO SILVERI REGIS UK
@paolosilveri
“I entered TVA because it’s one of the most prestigious and well-known competitions in the UK and in the world, where you get the chance to be completely creative. I finalised in 2017 but for health reasons wasn’t able to compete at the final, so this year wining felt like a small revenge.
My award was the last one of the night, but as soon they called my name I felt ecstatic, relieved, overwhelmed and over the moon! I felt like I made my Regis and Supercuts family proud. Everybody was screaming and happy for me and I felt like I was living a dream. Once I was on the stage holding my trophy, I had to turn to my model to ask her if it was real!”
“This shoot was an amazing experience. I loved every second of this incredible project, working with such talented people to create this stunning creative colour collection. I learnt so much but my biggest lesson was how to create the ‘fluffy, cool, hair texture’ that James Earnshaw is so famous for.”
“My award was the last one of the night, but as soon as they called my name I felt ecstatic, relieved, over whelmed and over the moon!”
MY TOP TIPS:
✓ Find the right model.
✓ Create something that you believe in and really love.
✓ Do your research so you feel confident and prepared
EDITORIAL LOOK UK & IRELAND WINNER:
AMY KIRWAN VANILLA HAIR DESIGN
@amy.at.vanilla
“This was my first entry for Wella Professionals TrendVision. I chose the editorial category, as it was an opportunity to present something unique, I saw it as a chance to exhibit a blend of innovative shapes and transcend traditional looks.
Winning TrendVision filled me with immense pride. I vividly remember thinking,‘I did it! I won!’ It felt like a reward, not just for me, but for all the support from the salon. To know that my name is going to be added to the prestigious list of winners is a feeling that is difficult to put into words.
“I vividly remember thinking, ‘I did it! I won!’ It felt like a reward, not just for me, but for all the suppor t from the salon.”
Being a winner gives me the confidence to know that I can take that chance, push boundaries and explore new dimensions in hairstyling.
My head is bursting with ideas about how I can explore the world of editorial hair. Who can I assist, who can I learn from? Seeing the final images filled me with an overwhelming sense of pride. It truly reflects me as a stylist—the colouring, the styling, and the shape of the hair all came together in a way that felt authentic and unique.”
MY TOP TIPS:
✓ Read the brief.
✓ Read the brief again to understand what it is telling you.
✓ Read the brief again the time, remembering that if it doesn't say you can't do something, it means you can.
COLOUR VISIONARY IRELAND WINNER:
JODIE QUINN HOUSE OF COLOUR
@Jodie_ _Quinn
“At House of Colour we encourage everyone to enter the TrendVision Award. Last year was my fourth time entering. I’ve made the final for the last three years, but I have never placed untiI I won this year. It’s impossible to describe the feeling of winning. For me it meant everything.
My ambition in the hair industry is now bigger than ever. My roles have slightly changed as I’ve become a Manager in the salon, therefore my ambitions are less about me and more about the people around me.
I learned a lot on the shoot. It was amazing to see extensions coloured and used in a different way. Using a black backdrop was also really cool.The shots are gorgeous and I cannot wait for everyone to see them.”
“It’s impossible to describe the feeling of winning. For me it meant everything. One of those moments where everything aligned and winning was the icing on the cake.”
MY TOP TIPS:
✓ Practise, practise, practise.
✓ Look at an overall creation.
✓ Enjoy every minute. I've learned more from my losses than I have from the wins.
CRAFT VISIONARY IRELAND WINNER:
VI PESSOA VI PESSOA HAIRST YLIST
@hairby_vi_pessoa
“My first experience at the TrendVision Awards was when I was a make-up artist for my boss. Since then I have entered four times – three times I went all the way to the finals and won the People’s Choice award three times. For me, it’s all about the journey. I grew up in a farm in Brazil, but I had always dreamed of going abroad. I can’t believe I am where I am now.
The journey has been amazing. The night that I won was the night before my birthday and this year was so important to me because I started my transition two years ago, and I started to figure out who I am as a transwoman, as a human being and as an artist. It allowed me to really get in touch with my creativity more than ever.”
“For me, it’s all about the journey. I grew up in a farm in Brazil, but I had always dreamed of going abroad. I can’t believe I am where I am now.”
MY TOP TIPS:
✓ Choose the right model.
✓ Connect with your model so you bring out the best in them.
✓ Have a clear vision of you as an artist and have fun.
CRAFT VISIONARY UK WINNER:
ELIJAH HOURRIDES HOB SALONS
@Elijah_Hourrides
“I started my career assisting the Hob Creative Team six years ago when they did a show at TrendVision, however this was my first time entering. I feel so lucky to be following in the footsteps of my mentors. Winning this has given me so much ambition. In the short-term, I would love to enter the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Fame team. Long-term, I aspire to be a part of the Hob Creative Team and enter the British Hairdressing Awards, but I know there’s a lot of hard work to put in before then.
“It made me feel so lucky to be following in the footsteps of my mentors. Winning this has given me so much ambition.”
I had so much fun on this shoot, and I learned so much. It was so nice to be able to meet all the other winners again. Before the shoot, we got images of our models, so I started creating a concept and became quite fixed on that idea; however, I didn’t go with that look in the end. I realised that, although it’s great to be obsessed with an idea, it’s even better to be obsessed with trying to make your model look their best!”
MY TOP TIPS:
✓ Don't give up until you find an incredible model.
✓ The key ingredients are suitabilty, execution, and fashion. In that order.
✓ Preparation is key.
