Lou Christou and Haircuts4Homeless Team Up to Train Recovering Addicts

Barber Lou Christou of Thy Barber is giving recovering addicts a helping hand by helping to transform them into trained barbers. His 12-Steps to Barbering will take place over 12 weeks and will feature five recruits from Acorn House, a hostel for homeless people recovering from addictions. Lou Christou commented: “I know that when I was first in recovery, what I needed was structure, and a reason to get up every day.” The programme will run in association with Haircuts4Homeless after Lou approached its Founder Stewart Roberts MBE, who has also battled with addiction over the years.

In June, HOB Salons celebrated their 40th anniversary, their General Manager and daughter of HOB’s Clive,

NATASHA GROSSMAN,
COMMENTED: “GROWING UP, I SOMETIMES FOUND IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY MY DAD WORKED DAY AND NIGHT, BUT EVENTUALLY AFTER JOINING THE COMPANY NEARLY 20 YEARS AGO, I REALISED TWO THINGS: YOU DON’T GET ANYWHERE IN LIFE WITHOUT SACRIFICE, AND YOU DON’T BUILD A LEGACY BY LUCK OR BY TAKING THE EASY PATH.”

TRIBUTES PAID TO LLUÍS LLONGUERAS

It’s with great sadness that HJ reports the passing of Spanish hairdresser Lluís Llongueras, who died on 29 May 2023 aged 87. Lluís, who was born in Barcelona 1936, was a hairdressing pioneer and innovator and respected by his hairdressing peers and consumers alike. He was recognised in 2019 as the first hairdresser in history to be awarded the prestigious International Hair Legend Award by the International Hairdressing Awards. This industry icon will be greatly missed.

Vish and The Fellowship for British Hairdressing Partner for the Project Colour Experience

Vish, the intuitive colour management software system, and The Fellowship for British Hairdressing are coming together for the Project Colour Experience. The collaboration will bring awareness to Vish and the benefits of its technology to the Fellowship Membership.

"We're looking forward to introducing the revolutionary colour mixing software solution to our Members and the wider Hairdressing Community," says Barry Stephens, CEO of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing. "The use of technology and automation for technical applications has taken some time to reach the Hair & Beauty sector. Hairdressers, in general, are advocates of technology for their day-to-day communication, so it shouldn't take them long to see the benefits and simplicity of the Vish solution and that it translates into a positive response from their staff, their clients, and ultimately into the till and their bottom-line profits.”

At a time of high inflation and many challenges across the industry, Vish uses data to ensure that colour isn't wasted and profit is maintained on every colour service for every client, regardless of the quantity of colour they require.
