The Haus Edit
BEHIND THE LENS
Siobhan and Philipp Haug share the story behind their collection, The Haus Edit
What do you love about this collection?
Within ‘The Haus Edit’, every look has been created with a classic approach and supported by a step-by-step technique. Our goal was to build a collection that underpins the education we deliver. It’s about revisiting those core methods that some may shy away from - like precision cutting - and showing that with confidence in these techniques, you can meet every request and take care of every client who sits in your chair.
What was the inspiration for the hair?
This collection was inspired by the salon techniques we use every day and have spent our careers teaching, most recently through our ambassador roles with Schwarzkopf Professional. We wanted to go back to the foundations of hairdressing - the core skills you can build on, adapt, and evolve for every client. Nailing your core techniques makes working creatively almost like second nature, because you have a strong understanding of technique and the practical skills to develop from.
How did you go about setting up the shoot?
We knew the techniques we wanted to include: a classic bob, an effortless layer, a curly shag, foilayage and freehand techniques. Then we worked to find models with hair types that would allow us to create step-by-steps that really showcase these techniques. In terms of styling, we used the OSiS range from Schwarzkopf Professional to give each look a gorgeous finish.
Did anything go wrong or surprise you on the day?
We always say, do what you do best on a shoot. So anytime something wasn’t going in the direction we wanted, we took a step back and thought about if we were over complicating it. Taking a moment to look back at your mood board will put you back on track.
Do you have a significant memory from the day?
We had a videographer with us to capture Reels for each look as we wanted to show how the hair moves and works with the personality of the person wearing it. We have some amazing videos of the models really feeling their hair and getting into the vibe of the shoot. It was such good energy on the day.
