“Thank you so much to Sacha MascoloTarbuck for all the incredible opportunities. I’m just so thrilled to have won an award for a collection I absolutely love.”

“Honestly, I’m absolutely gobsmacked. This has been a dream of mine since I was sixteen! I can’t believe it!”

“I owe so much to Mark Leeson and Richard Darby. I want to dedicate this to a model I used in the collection, who passed away recently.”

“I am shocked and shaky, but I feel amazing! Thank you so much to Mark and Richard.”

“Thank you to everyone. We always dedicate our awards to our two sons – never let your neurodivergence get in the way. Nothing is impossible. I’m sure there are lots of people in this room on the spectrum, if you have something you’re passionate about - you go for it.”

“I just want to say thank you to my mentors – there’s a lot of you in this room. I’ve dreamed of this since I was seventeen. I come from a very small city in Scotland and I want to show that you can get here if you work hard.”

“I’m really not prepared because I didn’t expect to win this as my category had so many collections that were so beautiful. I really do have imposter syndrome. I’m so excited that this takes me into the Hall of Fame.”

“Wow, two years in a row! Thank you to all my team, I couldn’t do it without you. My two daughters are here tonight which means so much to me.”

“This is third time lucky for me! As some of the other guys would say, if you don’t win first time keep on trying. This has been 10 years of trying and I’ve finally made it.”

“What do you say when your dreams come true? Thank you to TONI&GUY, they have given me the best training, allowed me to emigrate to Australia and be a business owner. They’ve been my family for 25 years. I want to thank my husband too – he works in the salon and looks after our little girl while I get to win awards and have amazing career experiences.”

“I think there's a saying here... you wait for one award and two come along at once! Thank you so much!”

“I did think I should prepare something to say and then I thought no I don’t want to get too hopeful! I know this award says newcomer but it feels like it’s been a journey to get here. I want to say thank to every person who has been part of my journey so far.”

“Wow. Those that know me know I’ve been representing black hair and equality for the longest time. Honestly, this means so much because it’s about change and equality, it’s about all humans being able to sit in your chair and get their hair serviced.”

“A massive thank you to my wife; I’m always travelling and she always supports me. I do this for her and for my kids. Big love, it’s been 11 years since I’ve been on this stage. I’m here to support all the barbers and men’s hairdressers in this room. Started from the bottom, now we’re here!”

“We all know the work that goes into creating an Avant Garde collection. Putting a collection together is a collaboration of artists, and I couldn’t have done this without my photographer, David Mannah, my make-up artist Lan Nguyen Grealis and stylist Borna Prikaski. I dedicate this to my daughter, and all the hard-working mamas in our industry.”

“It’s been a special night; Jake, 20 years and you finally got there – in a big way. I’ve got an incredible team. Building a team is something you work on every day and it’s not just about leading a team, it’s about being led by your team. I’m very proud. I want to say a big thank you to my partners, Clive and Paul, who have always supported our creative endeavours. It’s worth it, because this kind of recognition from your industry is the best it gets.”

“I’m feeling very happy, thank you so much. I’d like to thank Tyler and Eugene, for giving me the opportunities they did when I was young; Angelo Seminara, for spending hours teaching me techniques, and also thank you to everyone else here, thank you for having me. This is going to go in my son’s bedroom, it will make him very proud.”

Michela: “This is amazing, it’s a dream come true. Thank you so much to our family at TONI&GUY – we love you and couldn’t have done this without you.”

Charley: “A massive congratulations to all the finalists, the talent this year was incredible. Thank you to Michela, the best partner in crime ever.”

“Thank you to Jack and Lan my photographer and make-up artist, for always being with me. Thank you to my mum and dad, for giving me soul. To TONI&GUY, for giving me purpose in life. To my team, the most incredible team in the world. To Sacha and lastly, to Samantha, my wife, and my children who are my love, my life, my everything. All of this is what makes British Hairdresser of the Year.”
