Eighteen worthy winners, eight live shows, one radiant host and a Professor… HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards 2022, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional was a runaway success

On Monday 28 November, we came together to celebrate the stars of our industry at the Grosvenor House Hotel, a JW Marriott Hotel in London’s Park Lane.

To start, HJ’s Executive Director Jayne Lewis-Orr welcomed the 1400+ audience and gave a memorable tribute to Peter Belcher, former Managing Director of Schwarzkopf Professional, who died in 2021, saying: “Supportive, caring and constant – Peter was a man of incredible integrity, generous of spirit and with the kindest of hearts whose family meant the world to him.” A moving video tribute created in his memory was met with a standing ovation.

The British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional began in earnest as celebrity host Katherine Ryan entertained guests with her naughty but nice humour.

To kick off the awards section, sponsors Schwarzkopf Professional and Rainbow Room International whisked us away to Studio 54 in a glittering celebration of Disco glam.

Schwarzkopf Professional General Manager for UK and Ireland Julian Crane joined Jayne and Katherine on stage to announce the winners. The audience celebrated and cheered, with Professor Green bringing the audience to their feet with his throwback pop hits in the intermission.

We were blown away by the creativity of the seven live shows from the British Hairdresser of the Year nominees and, ending the evening on a high, Cos Sakkas was ultimately crowned British Hairdresser of the Year 2022.
