Vish Insights Push Salon Profitability

Stylists mixed nearly half a million formulas in the Vish app in 2022, slashing costs and waste while driving up profit. The real-time data is part of a wider report on colour use in salons published by Vish this January as a white paper.

The tech pioneer’s report provides unique evidence that will help owners make informed and effective decisions about competitive pricing and will aid stock management.

“Insight into granular-level data such as average colour costs-per service, the most popular types of services, and additional product charges captured is often surprising,” says Tim Howard, ex-salon owner and now Chief Innovation Officer at Vish. “It can boost your confidence to drill down into your own costs, facilitating a more accurate pricing that injects a guaranteed profit into every service.”

Senior Stylist, Jo Haywood, is Vidal Sassoon trained specialising in cutting for men and women and all aspects of colour, from balayage to highlights – and is qualified to British Sign Language Level 2. It is because of Jo’s personal efforts that the salon is now able to offer this service. She says: “Although I don’t know anyone who’s Deaf, my Dad and I decided to learn together so signed up to a sign language course at an adult college for two years. We did things like going to an art exhibition with a British Sign Language guide in a group of Deaf people which helped us learn."

BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE WELLA STUDIO

Ben Loy, Technical Educator at the Wella Studio Manchester has his hands full with a host of new courses

‘As a Technical Educator at the studio, my job is to deliver a range of different colour courses to our customers, ensuring they have a rewarding experience and that they gain more confidence and more skill. My biggest challenge this month is getting to grips with all the new courses – we’ve just launched the new Education Book and there are about 30 brand new courses this year! The ones I’m most excited about are the ‘Curl Craft’ course, which is all about cutting and colouring curly and coily hair and is taught by specialists like Rob Eaton and Michelle Thompson; and also the Advanced Hair & Scalp course, which is accredited with the Institute of Trichology, as that’s a topic I find fascinating. Aside from those there’s so many other great new courses – cutting, colouring and business – Iwould definitely recommend you download the book and take a look! DM me if you want any more recommendations! @ben.wellamcr
