On Sunday 13 October, HJ’s Extensions Competition, sponsored by Great Lengths is making its triumphant return. This year, watch hair pros show off their technical skills and creative abilities by demonstrating the most flawless and innovative application of extensions. The competition will culminate in a live awards ceremony on the HJ Stage. This year the competition is split into two categories – Commercial and Creative (Avant Garde). See the competition take place and the finalists chatting to the judges over on the Great Lengths STAND L120 on Sunday.

A trip to Salon International wouldn’t be complete without visiting HJ's British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, Gallery where you can get a first-look at the finalist collections, as well as the Session and British Hairdresser of the Year nominee collections. Don’t miss: the return of the #BHA Bursary. Backed by Hairdressers Journal International and Schwarzkopf Professional, the new bursary gives you the opportunity to enter a Regional or Newcomer category in the 2025 British Hairdressing Awards. To enter, all you need to do is take a video of yourself in front of our media wall at Salon International, and upload this and an image from your phone of a cut or style you have created.

LET THE BARBERING GAMES BEGIN

This year the Raw Talent Competition in association with Mike Taylor Education will be held over two days. The Post-Graduate and Graduate categories will cut live and be judged on the Sunday, while the Student category will be held on the Monday. See the competition take place in the dedicated Competition Area.

GET YOUR ELECTRIC FEELS

Dyson will be celebrating the Supersonic r™ Professional hair dryer, launched earlier this year, and available exclusively to professional stylists. The brand will be running special bundle offers at the event so make sure you head to the stand to get your hands on them. Don’t miss their live stage which will feature demos and talks with the Dyson artists and ambassadors.

SEE THE NEXT GENERATION

The Concept Hair Best of the Best competition will see the current Learner of the Year winners compete against each other in the Competition Area. Eight winners across eight categories will compete live on the show floor at Salon International on Monday 14 October. They will then present their models on the HJ Stage at 3pm, prior to the Best of the Best winner being announced. The theme for the competition is Runway Fashion and each finalist is invited to create a look that depicts Runway in their chosen specialism.

Distributors Chris and Sons have three stands this year packed with brands that you won’t want to miss out on such as JRL, Brosh and L3VEL3. We can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned for 2024. Expect high energy, giveaways and plenty of audience interaction.

SNAP! TO IT!

Running for its second year, the SNAP! Competition has seen hundreds of contestants send in their best hair images. The twist? The images had to be shot on mobile phones, with no professional shots being allowed! The winners will be crowned live at Salon International on the all-new HJ Academy stage on Monday 14 October. The social-only photographic competition is split into six categories and we're excited to meet this year's winners!

EDITORIAL LOOKS 101

Renowned for its up close and personal styling education, the BaByliss PRO stand will be thriving with both UK and global ambassadors sharing their hot styling tips and tricks. Expect beautiful editorial looks on a range of hair textures that will change the way you style in the salon for the better. See the team on STAND E120.

BARBERING UPGRADES

Expect big barbering names and ambassadors led by Simon Shaw, Global Artistic Director of Wahl on STAND T115. Backing onto the stage section of the stand you can pick up your barbering supplies from the Wahl x Alan Howard retail area on STAND T120.

FURNITURE FOCUS

If you’re on the hunt for new salon furniture, Salon International is the place to come to try before you buy. You can visit multiple furniture brands all under one roof, from a range of suppliers that cover the length and breadth of the country.
