Take the Heat Out of Styling
Discover how Dyson is helping professional stylists take greater control when it comes to heat styling
For professional stylists, control is at the heart of great styling. From selecting the right temperature for the hair type in the chair to controlling tension and the number of passes through each section – every decision plays a part in achieving the desired finish while protecting hair health.
Dyson is introducing a new approach to heat styling with the new Dyson Corrale CoolShine™ hair straightener. The new tool combines flexing plate technology with a new heat-extracting attachment, engineered to actively draw excess heat away from the hair immediately after styling.
The result is glossy, sleek styling with up to 29% less heat damage¹ and up to 154% more shine².
Engineering Heat Differently
Heat has an important role to play when creating transformational styles, particularly when working across different hair types and desired finishes. The challenge is controlling that heat effectively. Rather than simply focusing on how heat is applied to the hair, Dyson engineers looked at what happens immediately afterwards.
Inspired by heat pipe systems used in satellites, the technology behind the removable cooling attachment on the Dyson Corrale CoolShine™ was first applied within Dyson lighting. The attachment contains distilled water sealed inside heat-extracting copper pipes. As the water vaporises, the system draws excess heat away from the hair after it passes through the plates, leaving it cooler to the touch. It means stylists can use the temperatures needed to create high-impact looks, while reducing the hair’s overall heat exposure.
“IT MEANS STYLISTS CAN USE THE TEMPERATURES NEEDED TO CREATE HIGH-IMPACT LOOKS, WHILE REDUCING THE HAIR’S OVERALL HEAT EXPOSURE.”
Control In Every Pass
Engineering the way the hair is held is just as important as temperature. The Dyson Corrale CoolShine™ features flexing manganese copper alloy plates, which shape around the hair to gather strands together rather than allowing them to spread across the plate.
This gives greater control through each section and enables the desired result to be achieved with fewer passes. It builds on an approach already established with the Dyson Corrale™, where flexing plates were engineered to offer professionals greater precision while reducing repeated heat exposure.
For a stylist, that control can be applied beyond straightening; four temperature settings allow the Dyson Corrale CoolShine™ to be adapted to different hair types and briefs, whether creating a natural finish, sleek straight style, wave or curl. The 145°C and 165°C settings are engineered for natural styles, while 185°C and 210°C provide the higher temperatures required for transformational styling.
Designed Around the Stylist
Performance behind the chair isn’t only about the technology interacting with the hair. How a tool feels and moves in the hand matters too.
The Dyson Corrale CoolShine™ has been re-engineered into a lightweight, compact format, weighing just 200g without the cooling attachment. It also heats up in 15 seconds and features global voltage, giving professionals added flexibility whether working in the salon, backstage, on set or travelling with clients. Plus, the exclusive professional Steel Violet and Bright Copper colourway features a longer cable to easily work around clients in the salon.
This new launch is the result of years of engineering, bringing together flexing plate technology and a new heat-extracting attachment to give professionals greater control over both how heat is applied and how it is removed. For stylists, that means a versatile tool designed to deliver sleek, glossy results with less heat damage.3
