SPOTLIGHT ON: THE PIXIE

The Pixie cut is having a moment, there are 2.9 million searches for #pixiecut on Instagram alone and in our HJ Insider survey this month 92% of you said you’ve had more clients requesting shorter styles!

The Latest Pixie Cut, created by Sian Roscoe

1 Sectioning

Begin by creating a clean horseshoe section from recession to recession. This preserves the weight around the hairline, allowing for a softer, more tailored finish through the front and sides.

2 Back and Nape

Take vertical sections at a 45-degree angle from ear to ear, working around the back of the head to cinch into the neck. Use a razor along the hairline to diffuse any harsh lines and maintain a soft, natural edge at the nape.

3 Sides

In front of the ear, overdirect each section back to the ear peak. This builds slight length in front of the ear for balance and flexibility. Refine and customise with a razor, encouraging softness and movement.

4 Top and Crown

Release the top section and use the crown as your pivot point. Working in radial sections, elevate the hair to 90 degrees from the head and cut straight across. This technique builds internal weight through the front while keeping natural head shape.

5 Fringe & Detailing

To finish, detail the fringe and hairline using a razor. Focus on softening the perimeter and enhancing texture for a modern, effortless look.

6 Final Refinement

Personalise the cut further with razor detailing or point cutting where needed. The result is a tailored, lived-in pixie with soft, wearable texture and internal structure.

“Throughout a short haircut, constantly step back and assess the composition of your shape. For this cut, the exaggerated shape of the clothes mirror the disconnected length, which adds an extra layer of detail to the final shot.”

CLIP IT REAL GOOD

Bronx is the tool to take your cutting to another level. With a DLC blade to prevent overheating you can take your creativity to the max.

Featuring the Vector IN2 technology which combines an electronically controlled super torque with a speed that adjusts to hair textures.

With a 45mm DLC Diamond Carbon Blade, the Vista-CClipper is anti-rust and ultra-durable, and ensures a smooth, precision cut every time.

With a 7,000 SPM high-speed, high-torque brushless motor and adjustable housings, this clipper is built for performance and customisation.

A new power system with a high capacity battery designed to work across all BaBylissPRO FX ONE tools, it gives unlimited runtime.

It’s back! Refreshed with a lightweight, cordless design, the Peanut Li Trimmer features a powerful motor and is perfect for precision short cuts and shaping.
